Sewing Machine Techniques

Course Description

Participants will first compile samples of various techniques: seams finishing,  disposing of fullness etc.  Then the learner will make a garment using a commercial pattern, and will be able to apply sewing techniques to the garment while learning essential foundations of dressmaking.

The tutor will give advice on selecting patterns, fabric interfacing and components.  There will be demonstrations  on cutting and marking methods, and the garment will use a range of basic sewing processes including seams, finishing and fastenings.

Learn to use basic sewing techniques and commercial patterns to make your own clothes

A basic knowledge of a sewing machine would be useful.

What Do I Need To Bring With Me?

Nothing – unless you want to bring your own sewing equipment. There will be equipment available on the course if you don’t have any.
