Introduction to Creative Writing

COURSE AIMS: To help students develop/further their creative writing To develop a student’s critical abilities To enhance a student’s confidence in their own abilities To provide a ‘safe’ environment where students of differing abilities can talk, write and both give and receive criticism without embarrassment or ‘fear’.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Want to write? Want to meet other writers? Want to try `practical` exercises: short stories and poems? Want to discuss your and other authors work? Want to discuss characters, openings, settings and different genres etc.? Then come along, all abilities welcome!  The remaining weeks consider differing `genres`.    Enthusiasm is more important than ability.

This course runs throughout the year and every term the tutor focuses on a different genre. Students can join the course throughout the year. The focus for the course until Christmas 2017 is the basic elements of creative writing.
